King was raised in an Air Force family, where traveling both in and out of the country was a natural way of life. He points out that the most valuable part of his early education was simply growing up in Germany and visiting most of the countries in Western Europe by the time he was 13. This experience instilled in him a deep interest in history, culture and geography which helps him relate to his clients today.

After attending the University of Tennessee King spent 25 years in sales and marketing which took him across North and South America, Europe, Australia, and East Asia. This has taught him to work with people from all over the world and understand that everyone appreciates being treated with care and respect. Now as ever, his focus is doing the best for clients, developing long term relationships and making good friends. Throughout this period King also pursued his passion for buying and selling property which would eventually grow into his career in Real Estate. After years of looking at homes and land in numerous other locations he is convinced of Lake Norman’s many charms and loves to introduce people to the lifestyle he and his family have enjoyed there.

Lake Norman is one of the largest man made bodies of water east of the Mississippi with approximately 550 miles of shoreline, offering gorgeous residential property complete with boating, water skiing and fishing right at your fingertips. All of this rests in beautiful North Carolina which has the best balance of weather and geography along the East Coast. The Lake is also part of the growing Charlotte area which is a strong economic engine for the region. For many, it comes as a big surprise to learn that Charlotte is now the third largest financial center in the world but you can see this reflected in the quality of the development everywhere around the Lake.

King, Karen, and their three children, Matthew, Michaela and Jack have lived on Lake Norman for over 10 years. They all love the water and after moving there King quickly adopted the motto that “a bad day on the boat is better than a good day at the office”. He does not think that will ever change even as he watches his children move into new phases of life. Matthew is working in Shanghai, Michaela is off to college in Raleigh and these days most of what passes as free time is spent with Jack’s AAA baseball travel team. King and Karen derive great pleasure from helping these kids develop their talents and building lives that make everyone proud.

It is no wonder that other families like the Carty’s are moving to the Lake. This area is a great combination of natural beauty, good economic conditions, and mainstream American culture that is just the right kind of place most people would like to call their home.
